Tunes for the road! Best road trip songs you need to download

A road trip needs many ingredients to make the perfect recipe, and one of them is certainly some accompanying tunes to take you on your way. This has two effects – firstly, a good selection of music will help you pass the sometimes boring times between towns on your road trip; secondly, music is well known for helping us remember memories – how many times have you heard a song on the radio and it’s instantly taken your mind back to a particular time and place?

Having happy and uplifting music to take you on your road trip will help you remember your time for years to come, but be sure to mix it up to suit everyone’s tastes. Why? Well, obviously, everyone’s taste in music is different, and one person’s playlist is never going to be exactly the same as another’s, but on the whole, there are some tunes which simply scream ‘road trip!’

You might agree, you might disagree, but see if any of these suggestions would make it onto your ultimate road trip playlist, and download to your heart’s content!

I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

The Time of My Life – Dirty Dancing Soundtrack

Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen

Electric Avenue – Eddy Grant

Paradise City – Guns N’ Roses

The Passenger – Iggy Pop

Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd

Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi

Crazy in Love – Beyonce & Jay Z

Drops of Jupiter – Train

Scar Tissue – Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Are you Gonna Be My Girl – Jet

Seven Nation Army – The White Stripes

Should I Stay or Should I Go – The Clash

All These Things That I’ve Done – The Killers

Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen (As a note, please be careful if you are planning on doing the iconic head banging part, it’s not advisable for the driver to be taking part!)

Make sure your playlist involves a few ballads too, as well as a few iconic anthems; as much as you’re going to love belting out those chorus’ as you drive along, you don’t want to be exhausted halfway through your journey. Throw in a ballad or two, swap the driver, and sing to your heart’s content.

Download those tunes, load up that car, and hit the open road.

Where will your road trip take you? Total freedom calls!
